It's 1AM now and I'm listening to 987FM and blogging. Holidays are nearing to an end and this sucks. I'm totally not excited for friday..when everybody is going T.G.I.F..I'll be O.S.I.M. The past few days were I think one of the best days of 2010. A good way to start the year. Youth meeting on monday was tremendous and I made a commitment to give my life to probably go full time in church as a musician 5 years down the road? After the meeting ended, last minute news of an OPM came up and AL zone obviously are too much pushing the meeting to the youths like we're so free like that. But it was an awesome night though, absolutely love all 3 sessions. There were not a lot of us but we prayed and worship like never before for our breakthroughs to come. Had to play for the last 2 sessions and I felt like I broke through in my playing, probably the songs are kind of like my best friends, like those you can get me to play without chords or anything. Rio had me to play "I could sing of your love forever" after the first worship song and I vaguely remembered the chords. Jialat!! When he asked me, I said I know the song leh! But I pulled through! Wrecked my brains in that few minutes for the chords of the song. Ohhyeahh!! I think I also wrecked Chris' guitar. So many hairline scratches on the pickguard and some made it on the finish but it's alright, nothing some guitar polish can't do. It's a matter of whether he wants to get it or not. And he can't find his soft bag and ended up passing to me a canon a.k.a his Made-in-China hardcase which was so damn dusty like it had never been played for a long long long time. "I still play acoustic sometime" Yeah right!! There was dust on the headstock too..gosh. After the night was over, I made his guitar look like it had been played for quite sometime already. The pickguard looks thrashed on the second thought!! HAHA!! Putting into consideration that I was using a fresh pick, the sharp one but the pick went blunt at the end of the meeting. There goes my 60 cents and I'm left with 2, but there's still the normal ones for regular meetings!! Hehe! And I bought like a lot of the normal ones! The top of my speaker is now piled with those picks. One of the lesson I learnt from the meetings is: Never bring a cheap guitar with a plug-in into a meeting because it sounds like crap. I don't care how good you are but if your guitar sounds freaking bad coming out of the house your are still as bad, from a soundman's POV. The first session, KL's guitarist was playing and his double strumd sounded flappy coming out of the house..no idea why it's like this but it should be the electronics inside. There was also fret buzz..a guitarist's worst nightmare when playing live cus the buzz gets amplified into the speakers. Thank God Chris' had only a minor buzz but the trebles were ringing like nobody's business, which made it hard for me to listen to myself from the speakers but it was alright, didn't matter. Last thing before I sign off..my guitar's coming home!! After 2 weeks at Luthermusic, Raymond. Great guy, fixed everything up and it all added up to $120. Cool, reasonable and not over the top. This is it..BYE! Next post I shall talk about the meeting I went today..well, I mean yesterday.
